Greetings Generals, and salutations. Renegade Open back with more to wet your brain pallets, for all that juicy list building you love to do.
Today we are going to discuss the Army Construction Rules you can find at Renegade Open Events and some of our partner events. You’ve read the change we are making to 1650, but let’s discuss why. In the middle of the article, we’ll have the Army Construction Rules, and at the end links to the events, so far, that are planning to use them. So let’s dive into the data stream!
1850pts 7th Ed. from 2015 Renegade Open.
174 games were played, 58 players, 6 games, 2 players per game.
57%, 99 games, were finished ‘naturally’, dice roll, turn 7, or Tabling.
43%, 75 games, went to time and didn’t finish their game ‘naturally’.
20%, 35 games, finished with more than 20 minutes left in the round, most were tabling.
1650pts 7th Ed. from 2016 Renegade Open.
180 games were played, 60 people x 6 rounds /2 for number of people per table.
97%, 174 games were finished ‘naturally’. End on dice roll, turn 7, or Tabling.
3%, 6 games ran to time, 2hrs 30mins.
80%, 144 of all games finished with 20 minutes or more left in the round.
The rest finished with less time remaining.
2000pts 8th Ed. from 2017 Renegade Open.
“Naturally” completed games are those that get through Battle Round(Game Turn) 6 or Tabled/Conceded.
A total of 288 games were played (96 players, 6 games each).
60% of games (173) played FAILED to complete “naturally”.
25% Completed (72 Games) by Tabled/Conceded.
15% Completed (41 Games) by ending on Battle Round 6.
This was played at 2000 Points, and with 3 Detachments.
As a consequence of the above data we are returning to 1650. We conducted a straw poll recently to get a feel for what point value to go with.
256 respondents.
4 wanted 1850.
126 voted 1750.
126 voted 1650.
With such a close call between the two (1750 versus 1500), we decided to just go with what we’d already done as a compromise between the two values. Hence the return to 1650.
Now for the part you all have been waiting for the rules and the events so far that will use them.
Army Construction Rules:
1. Armies will consist of 1650 points or less.
2. Armies will be battle-forged and can include the following options:
3. 3 Detachments of any kind are allowed.
4. 0-1 Supreme Command Detachment.
5. No Single Model Units of Power Level >30 will be allowed.
6. You must use the most current version of the rules for your army and HAVE THE BOOK(s) Present with you, no exceptions (this is to ensure there is no miscommunication between you and your opponent). An Electronic Copy is just fine to have.
7. Game length is set to 6 Battle Rounds. Do not roll for additional turns.
As a consequence of lower points CHARACTERS were found to be too tough when spammed in an army that still had a ton of chaff units. So we continue with our limitation of the Supreme Command Detachment as a 0-1 choice.
